Youth and Young Adult Support Space (YYASS!)

3:00-4:00 p.m. ET / 2:00-3:00 p.m. CT / 1:00-2:00 p.m. MT / 12:00-1:00 p.m. PT / 10:00-11:00 a.m. HT

DESCRIPTION
Leaders of youth-centered programs hold many roles—from exploring youth peer supports, to creating youth programs, to building sustainability plans, to growing partnerships in communities. The Youth and Young Adult Support Space (YYASS) is a virtual learning space for those who are working in and leading youth-centered programs and organizations to come together. YYASS is perfect for leaders of Youth MOVE chapters and other youth-run programs that engage youth with lived mental health experience in change-making.

This monthly space is designed for in-depth conversations with peers, asking questions and sharing resources, and discussing challenges and successes with others across the country doing similar work.

FEBRUARY SESSION: At Youth MOVE National, those involved in the fellowship program put together projects relating to the world of peer support. One of the fellows, Nakiya Lynch (they/them), chose to create a ‘zine: “A Guide to Implementing Grounded Peer Support.” This zine breaks down how to implement authentic youth peer support in agencies of care through the relationship between agency readiness, hiring, and retention. Nakiya will highlight some of the elements of the guide with us, as well as lead a conversation around youth peer support and how to create a zine yourself! Facilitated by Te Jay McGrath from Youth MOVE National.
