DESCRIPTION
During this intense time of uncertainty, stress, and trauma related to the COVID-19 pandemic and racial trauma, program leaders and staff can benefit from processing experiences and sharing strategies to support understanding, connectedness, and hope.
We invite you to join a Community of Practice with fellow infant and early childhood systems of care program and staff and experts from the field. Collectively, we will explore the ways in which complex and racial trauma of these times affect the children and families we serve, as well as our programs and organizations. Together, we will discuss strategies and share resources designed to help programs address trauma and inequities and build resiliency in context of the pandemic and return to ECE settings and work. We will examine tools aimed at multiple levels (individual, child and family, program, and systems).
GENERAL SESSION TOPICS:
- July 22: Collective trauma and compassion fatigue in infant and early childhood contexts
- August 5: Complex trauma experienced by families with infants and young children
- August 19: Racial trauma and fostering equity in early childhood community organizations
- September 9: Applying racial equity tools in a community based mental health organization
