Youth Engagement Strategies in Higher Education Settings – Community of Practice Series

DESCRIPTION
Youth Coordinators, local high school or college campus representatives, and Healthy Transitions/System of Care grantees will come together to discuss strategies to engage young people in behavioral health awareness activities including training opportunities that connect young people to peers, resources, community, and causes. Participants will learn strategies and hear directly what works and what doesn’t from stakeholders in the Tapestry Initiative, a well-established system of care community in Chautauqua County, New York. All strategies discussed will be applicable nationwide in various communities and grant sites.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Participants will learn foundational tools to effectively set the stage for vulnerable conversations that are transparent to ensure appropriate partnerships that are diverse, equitable, and inclusive to all stakeholders, including students on campus.
- Participants will learn effective strategies for outreach and communication on college campuses by identifying natural connections and systems champions to create long-lasting strategic partnerships with shared responsibility.
- Participants will learn how to identify opportunities for sustainable accountability pathways and maintain momentum subsequent to grant funding.
- Participants will hear authentic messages from panelists that not only give tangible examples of partnerships and also hear vulnerable anecdotes of challenges, barriers, and lessons learned.
