This is a recording of a three-part Facebook Live conversation series hosted by the National Training and Technical Assistance Center for Child, Youth, and Family Mental Health (NTTAC) in observance of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month in May 2021. Each of the three sessions was centered around transitions faced during childhood, and featured guests with expertise in youth behavioral health, ranging from early childhood to young adult. Attendees reviewed the current mental health landscape for youth of all ages through the lens of both mental health experts and those with lived experience. Additionally, participants discussed coping mechanisms for the stresses surrounding the current COVID-19 pandemic and learned how to reconnect, reflect, and renew in this unprecedented time. In this recorded webinar, presenters elevated the critical need to co-construct therapeutic experiences with students and families. Through group dialogue and personal reflection, this webinar helped participants explore how their own lived experience impacts their ability to show up in their work in a humanizing way. Managing Adversities As You Get Ready for Fall 2021
This recorded webinar focuses on skills needed to manage adversities that occur as one prepares to resume work, school, or other life activities amid the ongoing pandemic. Sometimes, those facing adversities are expected to adopt resilience skills or “grit” to manage persisting obstacles, rather than to address systemic or structural obstacles underlying these adversities. So, both individual (micro) skills to manage ongoing obstacles, and communal (macro) skills are described to help address system and structural obstacles that impact the functioning within systems (such as the workplace).
